Anti-ChatGPT App Superfy Uses AI To Match People For Live Chats: A mobile app called Superfy is looking to use AI to better connect its users to other people for answers like in Quora or Reddit. Originally envisioned as a sort of “Quora on steroids,” Tel Aviv-based Superfy was launched in 2021 by married couple Michal Tamir and Gil Schoenberg, who previously worked together at the Israeli-based data analytics company Treato. The system uses a fully proprietary AI technology, Matchpoint AI, built on top of open source LLMs to enable the matches. Its machine learning algorithms and AI models match users based on a variety of factors, including not only who’s online right now, but also if they typically use the app at a certain time of day, if they tend to answer a lot of questions and if they have expertise that’s relevant to the specific query. The system involves an auto-generated dynamic database that identifies patterns within users’ discussions, instead of using classic NLP (Natural Language Processing) methods and pre-indexed dictionaries.

AI News Anchors Are Here: A “virtual human” designed by South Korean AI company Pulse9, Zae-In spent five months this year reading live news bulletins on national broadcaster SBS. Are things really that simple? Since spring, country after country have debuted their first AI news anchor: India has Sana and Lisa, Greece has Hermes, Kuwait has Fedha and Taiwan has Ni Zhen. “She is bright, gorgeous, ageless, tireless and speaks multiple languages, and is totally under my control,” said Kalli Purie, the vice chairperson of the India Today Group, when Sana first appeared in March. Time also needs to pass before anchors are largely replaced by AI. For now, news anchors will remain largely human, though their days may be numbered. Yet just because AI anchors haven’t fully been realised yet doesn’t mean they won’t be. Pulse9 has now created AI voices for three of IITERNITI’s members (including Zae-In) and debuted them in a mid-October concert. Meanwhile, the New York Times reported in July that Google is currently testing an AI named Genesis that can write news articles. So yeah, get ready for the robots to tell us what's cooking in the world.
